Junior Security Analyst

My love for cybersecurity started way back when a group of hackers terrorized the ATM
machines of Stanbic Bank Uganda. This made news countrywide. Having worked in a bank, I was afraid of when the hackers would target us. I based this on the exposure we had globally.

I imagined the amount of money that was going to be stolen affecting us negatively because the group would decide to cut funding for the country branch affecting the major activities.
The worst part is that people would lose their jobs and heavy regulatory fines would be imposed onto the company by the regulators for being inactive.
It was a matter of when and how the attack would take place. Interestingly, it opened up my mind to the unimaginables of the cyber world. Fast forward, I signed up for the Milima Cyber Academy programme, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, where I was the taught the basics of cybersecurity by experienced industrial experts who helped me understand the need for cybersecurity in our day-to-day lives.

After this journey, I decided to do some good. We are able to patch up systems and above all create awareness by sensitizing people about the need for cybersecurity through sharing relatable content like white papers on the outcome of sharing passwords online, having one password for all your accounts and sharing personal information with strangers on social media platforms. If am not catching the bad guys, I am traveling to explore new destinations and reading a book.
