ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

Milima Cyber Academy is Uganda’s top-tier cybersecurity and digital forensics academy supporting young professionals to gain practical and hands-on skills.

According to the 2018 Africa Cyber-security Report (Ugandan Edition), launched by Serianu, Uganda is reported to have approximately 400 information security experts in the country. Based on this, the academy embarked on a mission to build a community of dependable, practical, and ethical information security experts for Uganda and Africa. The Academy was launched on 11th February 2019.

We have successfully developed a functional curriculum with three things in mind;

1. Bridging the cybersecurity skills gap.

2. Supporting more women’s participation in the information security domain.

3. Bridging the academia-industry knowledge gap.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

    • Design courses to meet MCA learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.

    • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity, helping them solve problems using discipline-specific thinking strategies.

    • Employ a variety of informative and comprehensive assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning, and the attainment of student learning outcomes for the course.

    • Help students reach their academic, and personal career goals to foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people & ideas by modelling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.

    • Contribute to and provide leadership & guidance to the participants/students.

    • Moderating discussion forums/channels for advising, mentoring and coaching students.

JOB SPECIFICATION
All suitable applicants are expected to have the following;

 

    • A degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.

    • Certification in Cybersecurity or Digital Forensics.

    • A postgraduate award is also desired but not a must.

    • Applicants should have demonstrated working or training experience of a minimum of 2 years in a reputable cybersecurity environment.

    • Important to note that this is a part-time job and we would prefer practising professionals who just want to supplement their income.
